Well, after a lot of thought and analysis we decided to buy a nursery set online. We are still figuring out if this was the best way to do things. We could not find a set that we liked at Babies R Us that wouldn't cost us a small fortune and other sets that we found we couldn't agree on the wood color. Garrett's preference was darker mine was medium colored. We have a small room for the baby and I thought the dark color would make the room look that much smaller. Anyway, we finally found one online that we liked and we decided to go ahead and order it. I was so excited to get the delivery last week...unfortunately, that excitement was short lived.
We started our "adventure" on a Friday night immediately after the crib/dresser set was delivered. Our first issue was that when they sent the crib they forgot the mattress support piece. Obviously with nothing to put a mattress on the crib would have been more of a baby cage...not good. It took us quite a bit of time to realize that piece was missing since it also came without instructions for set up. Again...not good. Garrett called the company and after requiring us to email them pictures of what we did have along with a bunch of order information they are shipping us the missing piece.
Sometime around the middle of this past week we decided to start assembling the dresser set. Upon opening the dresser set the wood appeared to be a much different shade of "oak" than the crib. This resulted in lots of tears and near hysteria. Garrett calmed down (just kidding, it was obviously me) and proceeded to contact the company again. Last night, we went upstairs to start taking the pictures the company required to resolve the issue. Well, after pulling out some of the pieces again we determined that the wood color does in fact coordinate with the crib. It is not an exact match but the different areas of the crib have different color variations and the dresser set does match some of the variations. It is hard to describe but we nearly completed the dresser/tower assembly last night and tonight we hope to work on the hutch. Pictures will follow once everything is assembled and in order. I'm hoping that my moments of hysteria and tears will not return. Stay tuned.
