We are so proud of the Barnacle

Pretty much all of our posts since January have been about Audrey.  While she has stolen our hearts, we still love our "first child" Barney.  He has adjusted to becoming second fiddle extremely well.  Although sometimes we look at him and think, "he looks sad," he is still super excited to see us when we come home from work, or even from the grocery store when we have been gone an hour.

We are so happy that he has adjusted well to Audrey, and even more so with her becoming more and more mobile by the day.  Tonight we saw firsthand how good he is with her.  Barney has been playing with a rawhide bone we gave him about 2 weeks ago.  He takes it outside with him.  He throws it on the hardwood floors and jumps at it to slide around on his front paws.  When he gets bored with it, Audrey has taken an interest in it.  We will be watching her crawl around on the floor, and then she will see the unattended bone and head straight for it.  Sometimes we will get to it before she does, but there have been times where we didn't notice and we got it just before it ended up in Audrey's mouth.  Gross.

Tonight, Barney finally decided it was time to eat the bone rather than play with it. Audrey was fascinated with this. She would crawl over to Barney as he was gnawing on it, he would move to be alone with the bone, and Audrey would follow. Here are a few pictures...

 "Can I see it?"

Barney was really good with her.  He did not get mad, or tense up when she was close to him.  While we will continue to watch the two of them closely when they are together, we know that they will be very good buddies.
